This project at Mitchell Street in Chifley involved the installation of 465mm Sharpline Direct Fix cladding paired with roof sheeting in Dover White Colorbond®. Chosen for its crisp contemporary aesthetic, the Sharpline profile created sharp vertical lines across the home’s façade while the coordinating roofing delivered a seamless, unified architectural appearance.
Supporting elements including Solitex Adhero membrane, stainless steel fasteners, and a full suite of HMR folded flashings and rainheads ensured the building envelope remained watertight, durable, and high-performing.
Additional detailing incorporated Dambuster box gutter heads (CR200, CR300 & WR400) and custom leaf-guard inserts manufactured in-house by Austek, elevating both function and finish.
This project demanded meticulous craftsmanship and detailed junction work. The standout complexity was the fully mitred join between wall cladding and roof sheeting, which required precise measurement, folding, and alignment to create a clean and uninterrupted transition. Mitred junctions leave zero room for error—any misalignment affects both waterproofing and visual presentation.
The design also required concealed box gutters with cut-outs, which needed to integrate seamlessly behind the cladding and roof planes. Achieving correct fall, capacity, and structural support while keeping all components hidden required advanced sequencing and tight control over fabrication tolerances.
The final layer of complexity came from the custom rainwater head, which had to be shaped specifically to suit the building’s lines. Because the rainhead was visible from key external angles, the detailing had to be flawless and symmetrical to complement the façade.
The Austek team executed the project using a structured installation strategy focused on precise alignment and custom fabrication. The 465mm Sharpline cladding was laid with consistent rib spacing, ensuring each sheet engaged perfectly with adjoining panels. The mitred wall-to-roof join was created through detailed folding techniques, producing a sharp, geometric transition free of exposed capping or shadowing.
The concealed box gutter system was installed with carefully measured cut-outs and properly engineered fall, supported by HMR’s folded flashings to achieve a watertight finish. Austek also fabricated custom leaf-guard inserts in-house, designed to integrate seamlessly within the guttering system without disrupting the clean lines of the façade.
The custom-made rainwater head was shaped to follow the geometry of the building, ensuring it both performed efficiently and contributed to the overall architectural aesthetic. The use of stainless-steel fasteners and premium membranes ensured longevity, especially critical in coastal suburbs like Chifley.
The finished project showcases a refined combination of clean mitred joints, uninterrupted Sharpline cladding, concealed guttering systems, and custom metal detailing. The crisp Dover White finish enhances the home’s modern lines, while the precision of the folds, cuts, and junctions highlights Austek’s advanced metal craftsmanship.
With a fully concealed drainage system, tailored rainwater components, and faultlessly executed transitions, this build delivers both high-end visual appeal and long-term durability. The result is a striking architectural statement and a showcase of specialist metalwork ability.
