This project involved the full roofing and cladding works for a government LAHC centre, using a premium combination of Speed Deck 700 roof sheeting and Sharpline Direct wall cladding. The system was installed in Basalt Colorbond®, delivering strength, structural reliability, and a clean architectural finish suited to high-use public facilities.
To maximise insulation and moisture control, the build included Solitex Extasana sarking, 55mm PermoraINS insulation, and stainless steel Bremick fastening systems. The installation was completed with Velux FCM skylights, folded metal flashings, custom rainheads, and 150mm half-round guttering with A4 external brackets, ensuring durability, drainage efficiency, and long-term performance.
Working on a government building meant maintaining consistent quality across every single detail—flashings, screw lines, junctions, wall interfaces, guttering, and skylights. The clients required a uniform, highly precise finish, particularly around areas of public exposure and foot traffic.
The cladding areas demanded advanced folding and sheeting techniques to eliminate external corner moulds and cappings, requiring exact measurements and tight tolerances. Custom cappings also needed to be fabricated with swages to eliminate oil-canning, ensuring all flat surfaces remained visually smooth and structurally stable.
As this is a government facility, Austek was also responsible for installing the complete height-safety system for future maintenance access, adding another layer of technical and compliance-driven work to the project.
To deliver consistent high-level workmanship, the Austek team executed a structured installation sequence. Speed Deck 700 roofing was laid with perfectly even screw lines, ensuring structural strength and visual uniformity. Sharpline Direct cladding panels were folded and wrapped around corners using advanced sheet-folding techniques, allowing the building to be completed without the vertical corner moulds typically required on commercial installations.
Custom cappings were fabricated with precise swages to stiffen the metal and remove oil-canning, resulting in a clean, ripple-free appearance.Stainless steel Bremick fasteners were used throughout the project for strength and corrosion resistance. The team also fabricated and installed bespoke rainheads, guttering, external brackets, and flashings, ensuring all components tied seamlessly into the design.
Finally, Austek installed a full roof height-safety system, fully compliant with government requirements and designed to provide safe long-term access for maintenance teams.
The finished project showcases the level of precision and reliability required for government-level infrastructure. From uniform flashings and screw lines to detailed cladding transitions and custom cappings, every component was installed with accuracy and attention to detail. The combination of Speed Deck 700 roofing, ventilated cladding, and custom metalwork creates a sleek, durable envelope built to withstand heavy use and changing weather conditions.
This LAHC centre now benefits from a modernised, robust building envelope that offers long-term reliability, reduced maintenance requirements, and a polished architectural finish—reflecting Austek’s commitment to delivering exceptional results for public sector projects.
