This Point Piper project utilised Lysaght Longline 305 in Aries Metallic Colorbond®, paired with interlocking cladding and soffit sheeting in the same metallic finish. This colour is rarely used in residential construction, making the final appearance both unique and highly refined. The combination of Longline 305 and interlocking panels created a sharp, modern envelope with deep shadow lines and a premium metallic sheen. The system was supported by 55mm Performa foilback insulation, Mento Plus sarking, and stainless steel fixings for long-term structural performance.
A standout aspect of this project is the use of long single-length roofing sheets, delivering uninterrupted lines across the roof plane—a detail that significantly elevates the architectural impact of the build.
The architectural design demanded several advanced fabrication and installation elements. The Longline 305 sheets required precise handling due to their extended lengths, making transport, lifting, and installation challenging in a restricted residential environment. Balancing these single-length sheets across raked roof areas required millimetre-perfect alignment to maintain the consistency of the ribs.
The interlocking cladding and soffit sheeting needed to follow complex junctions, particularly around the large custom fascia detail specified by the architect. Achieving a flawless interface between roofing, fascia elements and interlocking soffits demanded highly accurate cutting, folding, and sequencing.
The project also featured tapered flashings and raked sheeting areas, which required customised metalwork to meet the changing geometry while maintaining visual uniformity. The rare-colour metallic finish meant that any imperfections would be immediately visible—placing an even higher expectation on workmanship.
To deliver the architect’s vision, Austek developed a detailed installation plan that paired careful material handling with precision fabrication. The Longline 305 sheets were installed in continuous lengths, ensuring crisp, uninterrupted rib lines from ridge to gutter. Our team designed and fabricated custom large-format fascia flashings, allowing the soffit sheeting and cladding to integrate seamlessly with the roof structure.
Every raked and tapered section was measured and folded individually, ensuring each flashing aligned perfectly across changing angles. The interlocking cladding was installed with consistent spacing, ensuring clean engagement at every join and maintaining the uniform metallic sheen throughout.
Sarking, insulation, and stainless-steel fixings were installed to manufacturer specifications, ensuring long-term performance and corrosion resistance—especially critical in the high-humidity waterfront environment of Point Piper.
The completed project stands as a striking example of modern metal architecture, where material quality and craftsmanship work together to create a refined, sculptural building envelope. The Aries Metallic finish, combined with Longline 305 roofing and custom fascia profiles, delivers a bold architectural presence unique to this residence.
Every junction, seam, taper and transition was executed with precision, ensuring the roof and cladding system performs reliably while showcasing an elegant metallic aesthetic from every angle. This project exemplifies Austek’s ability to deliver complex, custom metalwork to the highest architectural standards.
